Chester Road Runners’ ‘Couch to 5k’ beginners running course is ideal for newbies. The course is aimed at anyone who doesn’t know where to start with running or those who are returning to exercise after a long break in training. We coach you in the lush, beautiful setting of Westminster Park or on the streets of Chester. The course is designed to be achievable and highly motivational with support offered by experienced coaches and run leaders. Working in a group, with a gradual build-up of mileage you will be surprised how much you will achieve during your time with us. The course culminates with a graduation and a certificate for all of our participants, to celebrate the hard work over 10-week course duration.

The Couch to 5k beginners running course is held several times per year: March, June and September. Our aim is to build people up so that they can participate in a 5k race if that’s something they want to achieve or to perhaps participate in a free, local Parkrun at Delamere Forest or at Whitby Park, Ellesmere Port. We tend to find that if people have a goal in the diary to strive towards, then they are more likely to stick to the training plan and achieve something fantastic!

If you are joining CRR for the first time, no special kit is required. All you need is some enthusiasm, determination, a good pair of trainers and an appropriate a sports bra (if you are female)! Remember to bring a drink and appropriate clothes to suit the weather conditions. During the dark nights, we ask that people wear a hi-visibility top or flashing armbands for your safety.

If you want to join the Club and we are not holding a 10 week Couch to 5k beginners running course at the time. Don’t worry. We are beginner friendly all year round so please get in touch. We have several different paced groups so there is always something for everyone. We are experts at coaching beginners running.
