What inspired you to start leading runs and what motivates you to keep going?
Mines not a what but a who. Claire Lockerbie lead the C25K course I did and she was so inspirational how she got me through the course and running twice a week. I got the bug. What keeps me going is the people I have met through the club and the benefits it has on my mental health.
Can you share your favourite running route and why it’s special to you?
My favourite route has to be dukes drive, down to the river and back via the meadows. I am a trail runner by heart.
What tips do you have for beginners who are just starting their running journey?
Just put one foot in front of the other and go at your own pace.
How do you stay motivated on days when you don’t feel like running?
I like to keep focused on the feeling I get after a run. You can't beat a runners high especially when you didn't want to run in the first place.
What’s one memorable moment from your time leading runs that stands out to you?
It has to be the first C25K course I did with Simon and Martin. I cried at the graduation. It was a full circle. I always feel so proud to have been a part of their running journeys. I also love to see everyone who started with C25K carry on running with the groups.
