Introducing Our Run Leaders
We’re proud to have a fantastic group of Run leaders who give up their time to plan and lead groups to ensure all runners have a fun and safe session.

Al Chester Road Runners Run leaders are volunteers who love to encourage others.

All run leaders have been on an England Athletics Run leader course and are DRB checked.

All sessions are planned with a designated route and risk assessment.

Carolyn Jebb

Carolyn Jebb

Run Leader's Assistant

I joined Chester Road Runners on their Couch to 5K course in September 2015. It was part of my rehabilitation after a road traffic accident. There were times during my recovery where I couldn’t walk, so I never dreamed I would be able to run. I love being part of Chester Road Runners – I’ve made many friends and have enjoyed the club social events, as well as the running. I usually run with Group 5, or help with C25K (I am very slow!). My ultimate aim is to run fast enough to take part in canicross, with one of my four Pomeranians.

Chris Laughton

Chris Laughton

Couch 2 5K Leader

I joined Chester Road Runners in May 2016, and by June I was on the club committee as Membership Secretary. I respond to all emails and some of the social media messages. I am also a Run Leader for the Couch to 5k course and will be a Run Leader in other groups when needed. When I’m not leading, I’m usually a group 2 or 3 runner.

Claire Lockerbie

Claire Lockerbie

Couch 2 5K Leader

I joined Chester Road Runners couch to 5k group in March 2016, and then ran the Chester Metric Marathon in the October! I’m currently a run leader for couch to 5k. I’m very passionate about helping people realise they can run. I’m also doing a degree in nutrition, and training for my first marathon, so, now all I do is study and run!

Richard Parry

Group 3 Run Leader

Currently lighting the way as one of the run leaders with Group 3, with buckets of encouragement to boot! I have been a club member since July 2015, and run half marathons as my preferred race distance (although I’m currently preparing for my second marathon).

Heather Duffy

Heather Duffy

I joined Chester Road Runners in August 2016 and have never looked back. I have progressed with my distance and pace with the encouragement of the club and now run with group 3. I have just completed my first half marathon and am training for my first triathlon. I usually have a couple of events booked in each month. I am a regular at Chester Park run and enjoy trail running too! I will be helping to lead the Couch to 5k programme, but you will see me leading other groups too.

Tony Hill

Tony Hill

I’m usually part of the Group 4 team. I am a cyclist, turned runner and triathlete, who never enjoyed the swimming. I love to help runners progress to increased distances. I mainly enter 10km and half marathon events. Other interests are cooking, Belgian beer and red wine.
Melanie Fraser

Melanie Fraser

Group 4 Run Leader

I usually lead in Group 4 with Tony and Laura. I joined Chester Road Runners in 2013, and have since ran various 10k’s and my first half marathon! I’m a full time working mum of three.

Carly Bowen

Carly Bowen

Group 2 Run Leader

I love open water swimming, cycling, playing KORFball and walking up mountains. My main passion however is long distance running. I’m usually part of group 2 at CRR, and as a run leader my aim is to help runners improve their pace and advise with up and coming events. Since joining Chester Road Runners I have competed in many running events including Chester Half Marathon and Chester Metric Marathon. Joining the group has also improved the distance and pace at which I run.

Laura Hukin

Laura Hukin

Group 4 Run Leader

I’m a regular gym goer who decided to take up running and never looked back at increasing my own fitness level, enjoying the physical activity, and entering in several half marathons and 10k events. I enjoy supporting and helping others reach their own personal achievements and goals by increasing their distance. I predominantly run with Group 4 at Chester Road Runners.

Joanne Hutcheon

Joanne Hutcheon

Group 5 Run Leader

I love helping beginners gain confidence and watching them improve. In my ‘other life’ I love cuddles with my 2 labs and taking trips to the coast!

Matthew Whitehill

Matthew Whitehill

Group 1 Run Leader

I am a newly qualified Run Leader, mainly for Group 1. I joined CRR in May 2016 after spending too long running solo and hitting a running plateau. I have experience training for numerous distance races especially for my first marathon back in October 2016. I enjoy planning new and interesting (sometimes tough) sessions that enable members to realise their potential. Admittedly, I have an (un)healthy obsession with Strava and spend 99% of my time analysing the resulting data. The other 1% involves: more sport – tennis and cricket, playing guitar and anything Star Wars.
