Group Running Routes & Meeting Points

Group Running Routes & Meeting Points

Every week our Run Leaders carefully plan interesting routes with risk assessments for each of our running groups. From straight forward routes to hills, interval sprints and our popular 'Meet and Retreat' session, there is something for everyone - no matter what group, distance or pace you prefer.

Here are some of our recent routes to give you a flavour of what to expect when running with Chester Road Runners on a Wednesday evening!

We have also provided what3words for each Group's meeting location on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm.

Group 1 – 8:30 minutes per mile and below

Meeting point: usual.crash.rust https://what3words.com/usual.crash.rust

Tonight's session will be progressive loops by the Groves/Parkside working on holding our raw pace for longer.

400m loops with 3 progressive laps - 1min rest and repeat twice more (3 lots of efforts in total).

Head along Curzon, over the bridge & along the racecourse towards the Groves where the efforts begin, then a straightforward cool down back to Westminster Park.

Usual risk apply even in the lighter evenings - see CRR webpage for further details.

Pace out to efforts will be 8:15ish but adjustable to the group in line with Group 1 guidelines. Please ensure you stay by the run leader & in sight

Group 1 Example Route

Group 2 – 8:30 to 9:30 minutes per mile

Meeting point: trader.door.united https://w3w.co/trader.door.united

Group two have Hills this week.

We will run through Handbridge over the bridge along the Groves to the entrance to the park, through the park and along Boughton Road to Sandy Lane where we will do two reps of the hill.

We will then retrace our steps to Dee Lane and run down to the river till we get to Souters Lane where we will again do two reps.

We will then run along the river over the road and onto Castle Drive where we will do another two reps before heading back over Grosvenor Bridge and back to Westminster Park.

Group 3 – 9:30 to 10:30 minutes per mile

Meeting point: export.veal.doing https://w3w.co/export.veal.doing

This week will be a continuous run through Duke’s Drive via Handbridge.

Right out the park, over Grosvenor Bridge, down Castle Drive, over Dee Bridge, through Handbridge and left into Eaton Road. Near Eccleston we’ll turn right to pick up Duke’s Drive. When we get to Overleigh roundabout we’ll head straight back to the park along Hough Green.

Usual risks apply and it's Chester races so please watch out for any remaining race goers heading to the fair!

Group 4 – 10:30 to 11:30 minutes per mile

Meeting point: state.plants.complains https://w3w.co/state.plants.complains

Good Evening Group 4 this week we will be doing an out and back.

The route is quite simple we will leave Westminster Park and turn left down to Saltney. We will turn right at Asda all the way down River Lane and on to the river path. Crossing over the bridge and on to Ferry Lane once we get to 25 mins we will turn around and follow the route back to the park for stretching.

Usual risk assessment applies, see you Wednesday.

Group 5 – 11:30 to 12:30 minutes per mile

Meeting point: trials.vines.begin https://w3w.co/trials.vines.begin

Group 5.....Who's up for some fun on The Meadows doing our Meet & Retreat Session? Another light night favourite.

From Westminster Park we will head out into Handbridge, we will take a right after the Coop and head onto the Meadows via Victoria Crescent and Lower Park Road.

Once on the Meadows, we'll do a bit of a speed session whereby you will pair up with another runner. You will head off around The Meadows in opposite directions and when you meet your partner, you give them a high 5, turn around and head back to the start. The aim is to do this as quickly as you can. We'll do this twice and the second time, see if you can make it further round before meeting your partner.

Once we've done Meet & Retreat we will head back home at the usual pace for the group along the river path to Salmon's Leap, over the road, around Edgar's Park, up River Lane and back to WP.

Pace 11:30 - 12:30 min/miles. Nobody is left behind.

Usual CRR risk assessment applies. The Meadows path can be uneven under foot but it should be nice and dry. Dress for the weather.

Let's have some fun and push ourselves out of our comfort zones a little.

Group 6 – Social 5km

Meeting point: farm.colleague.report https://w3w.co/farm.colleague.report

Group 6 - this week we take you on a trip into town and out.

We turn right onto Hough Green up to the lights and cross over together. We head up to the roundabout and across the bridge. We cross at the lights by Castle Drive but continue up to the roundabout and head along Pepper Street along to the Ampitheatre.

We head round the Ampitheatre and past the church then down the steps to the river.

We run back along the Groves then head across the Old Dee Bridge and up through Handbridge.

This week we then run down Lache Lane and in through the other entrance to the Park.

Mustering as always to keep the group together. Please don't come if you are not feeling well. Looks to be pleasantly warm again.
